
Senior Pharmacist(7866) - Alexandra Hospital
Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)
Facilitates the achievement of objectives of the section effectively and efficiently.
Performs all aspects of supply of medications to patients independently.
Supervises the compounding and dispensing of medication (unit dose, intravenous admixtures, investigational drugs and outpatient prescriptions).
Monitors patient drug therapy to ensure safe, rational and effective therapy. Develops monitoring criteria.
Provides information to other health professionals and patients regarding medications.
Supervises the staff assigned to the section. This supervision includes training, scheduling, directing and evaluating the performance of staff members.
Actively participates in co-coordinating the activities of the section with other sections of the pharmacy.
Solicits opinions, new items, and recommendations from pharmacists and support personnel; presents information to the head of pharmacy to assist in decision making.
Implements the policies, practices and regulations established by the pharmacy department, various management committees and outside regulatory agencies e.g. MOH pharmacy practice standards, JCI standards.
Treats each patient, visitor and employee with compassion, courtesy and tact.
Responsible for ensuring staff of section is perceived to be helpful, compassionate and competent by patient, medical staff, nursing staff and other hospital personnel.
Rostering of staff within the section.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)
Develops quality assurance criteria for activities in his section or her section and performs regular audit. Prepares reports of these audits and discusses them with the head of pharmacy.
Conducts or co-ordinates new employee orientation and staff development program me for section personnel.
Plans and supervises the extension of pharmacy services as new proposals are developed.
Reviews policy and procedure manuals regularly, making revisions as necessary.
Publishes or presents at least one paper a year on subjects relevant to therapeutics and practice of pharmacy.
Change pharmacy procedures and policies with approval from principal pharmacist or head of pharmacy
Requirements
- Able to work independently
- Possess good listening and communication skills
- Hospital experience is desired but not necessary
- Min of 1-year experience as a fully registered pharmacist is preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from accredited college/school of Pharmacy
- Registered with the Singapore Pharmacy Council
