Key Performance Area
Clinical Care
• Ensure the implementation of quality nursing care through review and update of policies, procedures and continual monitoring of clinical practice.
• Maintenance of effective and efficient care delivery and staffing of the wards.
• Maintain up-to-date clinical and managerial developments in the health care field, implementing new ideas and systems where appropriate.
• Ensure advance care planning (ACP) and InterRAI assessment are carried with residents as part of their care planning.
• Responsible for the supervision, evaluation and disciplining of multi-disciplinary team within scope of responsibility.
• Ensure regular review of all nurses and identify training needs through effective appraisal systems and total quality management.
• Ensure/implement training through utilisation of internal and external training resources.
• Ensure the maintenance of accurate patient and staff records, observing legal requirements and in compliance with the Codes of Good Practice of Nurses.
• Ensure that nurses are attired in the manner that reflects their professionalism.
Quality
• Co-ordinate teamwork in the day-today running of the wards from nursing as well as other departments; hence delivering quality service to patients, relatives and visitors.
• Lead in Quality Assurance Committee and Infection Control Committee
• Ensure that there is a high standard of cleanliness within the clinical / ward/ areas.
• Maintain systematic inventory control of drugs in-wards stocks and all assets acquired in order to achieve optimal utilization and safe storage.
• Ensure that all the equipment, machines, instruments in the Nursing Department are properly maintained and licensed.
• Ensures quality audits are planned and conducted periodically
• Conduct training for staff development and ensure continuity of quality improvement
• Participate in clinical/service quality improvement activities by the sector
Administration
• Appointment as Clinical Governance Officer (CGO) Under HealthCare Service Act (HCSA) for licensee.
• Assists the licensee in clinical governance and technical oversight of nursing home services eg planning, development, co-ordination, and evaluation of the nursing home service.
• Organize and develop the Nursing Department, its systems and its staff to high degree professionalism.
• Ensure the safe storage of all confidential files, records, documents; and that patients’ confidentiality is maintained at all times.
• Ensure accurate monitoring of staffing levels to match hospital activity with appropriate staff, utilizing an effective combination of permanent and contract staff.
Requirements
- Need to have nursing experience in mental health / intellectual disabled home / nursing home / Hospital
- Can consider Nurse manager level keen for ADON role
