As part of its mission to distil, create and share knowledge on liveable and sustainable cities, CLC manages relationships with a large number of external partners, including foreign leaders and city governments around the world, private corporations, research institutes, and a wide range of international organisations and NGOs. DD (Partnerships & Engagements) leads the team responsible for CLC and World Cities Summit (WCS) partnerships and engagements, at both strategic and operational levels.

At the organisational level, the jobholder will support CLC management by developing the frameworks and protocols for managing external relationships. The protocol for each partnership would entail clarifying partnership objectives and developing strategies for working with them. Responsibility for managing individual partnership relationships would be shared out amongst CLC’s workstreams, as appropriate – this decision would be taken by CLC management. To support this work, the jobholder is to oversee the development/purchase of a suitable customer relationship management system for CLC.

At the operational level, the jobholder will guide a team that is directly responsible for managing many of CLC’s relationships, particularly those with foreign government entities, international organisations, city networks and professional associations. The Partnerships and Engagements team includes staff responsible for high level WCS engagements – including invitations, hospitality, special programmes and external engagements with Ministers, Mayors, city leaders, and WCS Young Leaders. The team is also responsible for supporting the engagements by CLC senior management at external events.

  • Work closely with MND International Relations team and MFA when engaging foreign leaders and government entities.
  • Lead a team of relationship managers to maintain good relationships with CLC partners and entities, with a special focus on engaging Ministers, Mayors and city leaders from other countries.
  • Contribute to the success of WCS by convening and engaging target groups, leveraging on WCS and CLC wide platforms to add value to relationships.
  • Oversee the co-ordination of all bilateral meetings at WCS.
  • Staff Chairman and ED CLC for external engagements.

Requirements

  • A tertiary education in a relevant discipline in business administration, marketing, communication, or international relations.
