What the role is:The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our City in Nature.What you will be working on:You will be part of the Licensing Branch under the Industry Standards and Regulatory Division. You will also be part of the Veterinary Council (VC) Secretariat, playing a key role in enforcing professional standards within the veterinary industry.Your scope of work includes:
  • Main touchpoint for all professional licensing-related processing and feedback
  • Perform endorsement of Certificates
  • Develop and work on IT system development, and enhancements
  • Develop and administer new scheme(s), including evaluating applications, and making recommendations to the VC on the suitability of the applicants
  • Manage policies and continuing education and professional development of veterinary professionals
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive disciplinary framework for veterinary professionals
  • Provide secretarial support to the VC
  • Maintain and update databases related to veterinary professionals, investigations and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure alignment with relevant frameworks and standards
  • Maintain strong working relationship with various stakeholders (e.g. organising annual dialogues)
  • Review of regime and policies
  • Provide support for projects undertaken by department and organisation
  • Participate in inter-agency conversations, projects and community engagement activities
What we are looking for:
  • Areas of study in Veterinary Science or relevant subject area.
  • Experience in veterinary practice or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience in disciplinary procedures, regulatory bodies or enforcement is highly advantageous
  • Strong team player with initiative, drive, good time management and organisational skills
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive situations, and build strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Good IT skills e.g. sound applied knowledge of Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new in-house IT software applications
