Key Responsibilities of a Proto Lab Technical Specialist:

  1. Prototype Fabrication Assist in building prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, injection molding, and other rapid prototyping techniques.
  2. Material Selection & Testing Work with engineers to evaluate materials and components for prototypes.
  3. Product Testing & Validation Conduct mechanical, electrical, or functional tests to ensure prototypes meet design and performance specifications.
  4. Process Optimization Help refine and improve prototyping processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  5. Collaboration with Engineers & Designers Work closely with R&D, design, and NPI engineers to translate product concepts into working prototypes.
  6. Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operate and maintain lab equipment such as 3D printers, milling machines, laser cutters, and testing devices.
  7. Documentation & Reporting Maintain detailed records of prototype builds, test results, and process improvements.
  8. Quality Control & Troubleshooting Identify issues in early-stage prototypes and suggest design or process modifications.

Assist vendors setup of facility and GRE for proto setup

Assist and support vendor for machinery landing

Assist vendor and engineers in machinery /tooling install, assembly system debugging and commission

Hands on work with suppliers to develop mechanical fixtures/jigs design, tooling modification/customization, install and test

Develop tooling modification/customization, mechanical design improvements

Assist NPI Engineers with process characterization, gage R&R and NPI experiments

Assist NPI Engineers to buyoff FAT/ SAT

Periodic maintenance and calibration of online and offline tooling/gages

Audit tooling maintenance and calibration

Operate and hands on machinery for proto build runs

Engage and assist NPI Engineers on experimental builds, innovate and engineer new processes, new mfg technologies etc

Spare management

  • Maintain a master list containing OS version info, Anti virus version, IP, Backup and etc of all PCs deployed in proto environment

Professional Skillset - Part1

Diploma in Engineering or equivalent. Inkjet or printer manufacturing experience is a plus.

Self-starter, high initiative and self-motivated

Reasonable command of English, both written and verbal.

Able to work independently while at same time team player

Like to hands on explore and learn mechanical /electrical designs as part of daily work.

Good technical troubleshooting skills and good observation skill.

1.Prior knowledge in adhesive dispensing, precision dispensing, ultrasonic welding/plastic sealing knowledge will be advantages
