Job Description

The Green Consultant forms part of the Building Physics and Sustainable Design team within the global structure of the company and assumes general responsibilities that pro-actively contribute to the growth of ESD consultancy capabilities and all other disciplines across the globe.

This includes responsibility for all design, documentation, administration and compliance with project constraints. You will also need to fulfill legal responsibilities commensurate with your position. The following is an overview of responsibilities and performance standards required of the Green Consultant:

Major Function

As a Green Consultant, your role includes but is not limited to;

  • Carry out BCA GreenMark Assessment for new and existing buildings
  • Provide Building Physics design and buildability consultancy, including material knowledge and installation techniques
  • Coordinate with client consultants such as architect, structural, facade and acoustic engineers to determine best ESD design outcomes
  • Provide design sketches and reports are required for schematic, design development and constructions phases of projects.
  • Project lead internally with respective team colleagues to allow deliverables to be issued to client
  • As required use computer modeling and computer aided tools to provide solutions for client
  • Act as Project Leader on assigned projects and manage projects, site meetings, design workshops and site inspection as required and/or as project planning stipulates
  • As Project Leader, monitor and report on team performance against agreed timelines, and fees/budgets
  • Take courses of action necessary to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned tasks
  • Help solve client/project team’s problems by lateral thinking and creating innovative solutions. Consult with colleagues to ensure you have captured the best ideas
  • Evaluate opportunities for improved efficiencies and effectiveness in consultation with the Team Leader/Discipline Director/General Manager, including identifying, developing and implementing standards, systems, tools and processes to support continuous improvement within the organization
  • Complete timesheets on a daily basis and submit electronically on a weekly basis


Operation and Project Management

As the Green Consultant you shall be responsible for efficient and accurate completion of all projects and tasks under your control whilst maintaining technical standards and responding to the client brief.

Detailed responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with project lead internally and with respective team colleagues to allow deliverables to be completed and issued to client
  • Ensure works is completed to a high quality, outputs are in alignment with the agree scope and agreed scheduled delivery time frames are met
  • Endeavor to complete work in time to suit programs and project budgets, where not possible provide feedback for both personal and team growth
  • Assist with preparation and coordination of expressions of interest, tender submissions and similar consulting proposals
  • Ensure high technical standing on the project such that client complaints do not arise


Technical Development

The Green Consultant shall assist in the delivery of work, aspiring to achieve a high degree quality aligned with your level of experience, and grow your technical skills to be able to deliver in the following areas:

  • Commit to learning new skills, and undertake challenge outside your comfort zone
  • Provide and/or assist with green building certification including but not limited to Green Mark, LEED and WELL, attend client meetings and become proficient in other rating tools as required.
  • Provide and/or assist in conducting assessments, modelling and reports of Life Cycle Assessment/ Embodied Carbon Analysis, Thermal Analysis, Reflectivity, Glare, Condensation and others as they become available
  • Provide ESD design, low carbon design and buildability consultancy, including material knowledge and installation techniques
  • Identification of technically complex projects and problems that require input from other in the team
  • Window Specification – become intimate with all components of light and heat transfer through windows and frames
  • LBNL Therm – Understand the methodology behind undertaking detailed thermal analysis of curtain wall systems to deliver Total U-value and SHGC values for compliance


Client Management

The Green Consultant shall continually contribute to in Inhabit gaining repeat business by providing high quality service and creative (‘Leading Edge’) solutions to clients by way of:

  • Provide high quality client service delivery in relation to outputs produced for both internal and external clients in accordance with Inhabit’s quality technical standards
  • Identify and implement ways to enhance internal systems, processes and procedures to improve client satisfaction
  • Aiming for repeat business from all clients in contact with the Inhabit Group


Marketing and Business Development

The Green Consultant shall actively participate in the marketing of the practice as a multi-disciplined engineering company and shall achieve agreed targets in all aspects of practice development, including:

  • Maintaining regular contact with existing or prospective clients for establishing potential future work
  • Active participation in a broad range of client-focused functions / commit to enhance the professional image of Inhabit Group


Mentoring Training and Personal Growth

  • Document new skills learnt in technical notes and other mediums for the purpose of sharing new skills learnt and teaching others within the Building Physics and broader team.
  • Undertake professional and personal development to complement on job learning
  • Grow and develop in professionalism and job effectiveness through reading Inhabits’ technical notes and contributing to the development and improvement of the technical notes on an active basis
  • Keep an up-to-date working knowledge of relevant design techniques, technical standards, codes of practice and systems and procedures
  • Participate in educational programs and skill-based training as required
  • Attend and present at internal technical forums, talks and workshops
  • Coordinate, participate and actively contribute to design workshops, where facade solutions are explored and determined. Workshops may be with architects, suppliers and fellow professionals and with the facade industry.
  • Ensure that personal goals are set and targeted for personal development
  • Carry out research on potential facade materials, technology or other innovation and share knowledge and update technical library
  • Take an active interest in the other disciplines (BMU, Lighting, Acoustics, Facades, Logistics etc..) to further develop your specialist skills

Major Function

As a Green Consultant, your role includes but is not limited to;
