The Home Team Science & Technology Agency (HTX) is the first of its kind Science and Technology Agency in the world that brings together science and engineering capabilities across the Home Team Departments to transform the homeland security landscape and keep Singapore safe.

Within HTX there are various Centres of Expertise (CoE). Of which, the HTX Forensics CoE develops the capability and capacity of Forensics through research, development, and continuous innovation. This enables the team to provide scientific and technological forensic analyses and advice to deliver high quality, accurate, and prompt intelligence so that crimes can be solved effectively and efficiently.

What You Will Be Working On

As a Drug Forensics Specialist, you will be required to:

  • Conduct comprehensive on-site forensic processing at drug-related crime scenes, adhering strictly to legal and scientific standards for evidence handling and scene management.
  • Secure, document and preserve physical evidence at crime scenes with utmost precision, maintaining detailed records of all on-site activities and ensuring a reliable chain of custody for all forensic findings.
  • Ensure the integrity and adequacy of forensic evidence collected on-site to support ongoing investigations and potential court proceedings.
  • Strictly adhere to established protocols, standards, and regulations governing drug forensic procedures, with comprehensive training provided.
  • Maintain readiness for shift duties and 24/7 stand-by availability, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of law enforcement work.
  • Provide essential on-site support for forensics operations and investigations at crime scenes as well as attending court trials to provide testimony on collected evidence and forensic processes.
  • Undertake any additional administrative duties or assigned projects, contributing to the team’s efficiency.


What We Are Looking For

Candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science, Life Science, Chemistry, Biology and/or other related disciplines.
  • Excellent observational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in diverse environments.
  • Eagerness to learn and collaborate as a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work flexible shift hours in alignment with the demands of drug forensics work.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure at irregular hours.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
  • A valid Class 3 driving license will be an advantage.
  • Candidates with no prior experience in forensics are welcome to apply.
  • Passion for forensic science and a genuine desire to contribute to the safety and security of Singapore.


All new appointees will be provided with relevant training and appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
