POSITION SUMMARY
MPM BioImpact Asia is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to focus on the firm’s investment and company building activities in APAC. They will be a key member of MPM BioImpact’s investment team, and will be heavily involved in the firm’s day-to-day investment activities, including (1) conducting in-depth due diligence on investment opportunities, (2) effectively communicating/ presenting to the broader team to guide investments, (3) assisting in deal negotiation and closure, and (4) supporting operational and strategic initiatives for MPM BioImpact’s portfolio companies.
Key responsibilities
- You will be part of the private investment team responsible for originating, analyzing, and managing MPM BioImpact’s private investments, primarily focusing on pre-clinical and clinical-stage life science opportunities in APAC
- Conduct primary due diligence of potential investment opportunities, which may include:
In-depth review of relevant scientific and clinical publications
KOL interviews
Competitive landscape analysis
Market opportunity analysis
- Prepare, present, and collaborate with the broader investment team to guide potential investments
- Support end-to-end deal negotiation. Support operational and strategic initiatives for MPM BioImpact’s portfolio companies, including company formation and early-stage development.
Qualifications and requirements
- Education: MD preferred (or alternatively PhD in the field of life sciences) from top tier academic institution
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience but no more than 4 years in clinical development, management consulting, early-stage life sciences investment, or biotech/ pharma business development
- Strong academic track record
- Strong work ethic
- Passionate about life sciences, patient impact, and investing
- Must be intellectually curious with a strong desire to uncover the insights and answers
- Possess a data-driven mindset
- A team player - can communicate effectively across team (both oral and written), assist in ad hoc requests
- Can manage stakeholder relationship both internally and externally
- Can effectively prioritize their own workstream
- Organized and detailed oriented
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin, ability to communicate scientifically in both languages
- Willing to relocate, if not already based in Singapore
