Project OverviewThis research project aims to provide new empirical findings on green urbanism plus transit-oriented development practices (called “Green TOD”) by conducting by conducting a set of spatial data analyses on energy consumption, transit ridership, and price appreciation in Singapore.Job DescriptionA Research Assistant will be hired to undertake the following research activities:
  • Meeting with the principal investigator (PI), Co-Investigator (Co-I), and other team members regularly;
  • Managing the progress of key tasks;
  • Collecting and organizing Singapore's spatial datasets
  • Managing multiple attributes on a geographic information system (GIS) platform
  • Developing energy consumption, transit ridership, and price appreciation models
  • Exploring new software and spatial data visualization/analysis techniques.
This position will be based at the Urban Planning & Policy Research Team, led by PI Prof. Jin Murakami at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in collaboration with Co-I Prof. Phang Sock Yong at Singapore Management University (SMU).Requirements
  • Master's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation, Economics, Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Strong data management and quantitative analysis skills
  • Proficiency with programing, coding, and/or statistical software (e.g., Python, R, STATA)
  • Knowledge and experience of GIS software applications (ArcGIS and/or QGIS)
  • Experience in multivariate regression modeling and spatial data analysis
  • Interest in data visualization skills - preferred
  • Familiarity with Singapore's urban planning and development practices - preferred
  • Sufficient report writing and communication skills in English
