
QC Pipe Welding Inspector
Job Summary:
The QC Pipe Welding Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all welding activities on piping systems meet industry standards, safety requirements, and project specifications. This position requires the ability to perform inspections, review welding documentation, and verify the quality of welds using various testing methods.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Weld Inspections:
Conduct visual inspections of welds on piping systems to identify defects such as cracks, porosity, and undercuts. Ensure welds meet the required specifications and standards such as ASME, API, AWS.
2. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):
Perform or supervise NDT methods such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing to assess the integrity of welds without damaging the material.
3. Welding Procedure Review:
Review and approve welding procedures, ensuring that they are in compliance with the applicable codes and standards. Ensure that the procedures are followed during welding operations.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions. Ensure that all welds and materials are documented in accordance with project requirements and regulations.
5. Material Verification:
Verify the correct materials are used for welding, including pipe, filler metals, and consumables. Ensure that all materials meet the specified standards.
6. Welder Qualification:
Verify that all welders are properly qualified and hold the necessary certifications 3.1 Welding Certificate.
7. Compliance and Safety:
Ensure that all welding operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Promote a safe working environment by identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
8. Quality Assurance:
Identify any deviations from welding procedures or quality standards and recommend corrective actions to maintain the integrity of the project.
Requirements:
- 3.1 Welding Certificate :Must have a valid 3.1 Welding Certificate to conduct welding inspections.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes, standards, and best practices.
- Proficient in non-destructive testing methods.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to spot welding defects.
- Experience with welding inspections in the oil and gas, construction, or industrial sectors is a plus.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
