Role Description:

Polynomial Partners is a newly launched systematic hedge fund operating globally with team members in Singapore, Hong Kong, the US, and UK. We are seeking our first Chief Technology Officer to perform the important senior management role of tying together the ambitious growth roadmap of our tech stack and ensure the platform is scalable and resilient. This role is intended to be based in Singapore, but we will consider candidates in Hong Kong or London, where Polynomial also maintains offices.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure and Systems Management:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned with the fund's strategic goals.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of both general corporate and trading infrastructure, including cloud-based networking, execution platforms, data pipelines, and operational systems including risk, finance, and reporting.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, resilient, and secure, with minimal latency and maximum uptime.

Team Development and Collaboration:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of software engineers, data scientists, and quantitative developers.
  • Oversee multiple ongoing development projects with the aim of keeping infrastructure agile, cost effective, and cohesive.
  • Work closely with research and trading teams to understand requirements and deliver tailored technology solutions.

Security, Compliance, and Risk Management:

  • Work together with legal and compliance colleagues to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Oversee audit or due diligence processes of auditors, data providers, or investors.
  • Identify and mitigate technology-related risks that could impact trading or operational performance
  • Take senior ownership of Technology Risk and Compliance policies and procedures, including those regarding cybersecurity, data privacy, technology audit and assessment, security operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or another related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience as a senior technology operator within a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, or a similarly complex, data-intensive environment.
  • Deep understanding of capital markets technology requirements regarding data pipelines, execution infrastructure, risk and performance measurement.
  • Experience implementing and enhancing fund-management technology platforms such as EMS / OMS / PMS / RMS and data inputs to such systems.
  • Experience building business continuity (BCP) and incident response plans and procedures.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Java, web development)
  • Experience in data management infrastructure (ETL, data lakes, data warehouse) is a plus
  • 5+ years experience operating within cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and recent qualifications to demonstrate knowledge is up to date
  • Experience with, and appreciation of, regulatory and investor due diligence considerations common in the industry.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
