Role Profile

Lloyd’s List has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Reporter- APAC, working in the editorial and content team that spans the world, and is growing.


The Senior Reporter – APAC role in the Lloyd’s List editorial team is tasked with developing Lloyd’s List’s maritime reporting capabilities and content in Asia with a focus on the tanker, dry cargo, and gas segments. The role will be vital in helping set the agenda of Lloyd’s List’s coverage of international shipping markets through daily news, features, and analysis.


The Senior Reporter – APAC will work closely with the APAC Editor and Markets Editor in creating and developing data-led analysis of companies and markets to the high standards of Lloyd’s List’s editorial guidelines.


The role requires someone who will also help raise the profile of our wider maritime business through external representation at events and presentations.


This is a full-time, permanent role and will report to the APAC Editor, Lloyd’s List.


This role is balanced working model between home and in our modern and centrally located Singapore office with an excellent and a wide variety of services and transport links situated nearby.


Key Responsibilities

  • Write news and markets analysis that provides a consistently reliable and authoritative view of short and long-term market trends that helps readers’ business decision-making.
  • Attend local and/or international news conferences, industry events, webinars, conference calls etc.
  • To develop and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders including shipbrokers, shipowners and commodities-related businesses.
  • To understand and execute Lloyd’s List Intelligence data sets on vessel fleets and freight rates and utilise both in-house and third-party sources, for inclusion in articles.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise as required by the business.
  • Participate in events and Lloyd’s List podcasts and webinars as required, in either a presenter or moderator role.

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • At least 2 years’ experience in B2B reporting with a specialty in either shipping, business, trade and commerce, finance or commodities
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks daily and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • A self-starter with the ability to learn quickly on the job and understand the wider issues of the maritime industry
  • Advanced communication skills to engage with both colleagues and industry C-suite executives
  • Proficiency in MS office suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Positive Impact and Influence – able to manage internal and external relationships and adapt the approach as needed.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration – can work across different levels of seniority, different cultures and languages and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Additional language skills such as Malay or Mandarin
  • Experience in reporting in either the dry cargo, tanker or gas segments.
  • Digital editing and production skills including data visualisations, audio and video
  • An existing, broad network of industry contacts.
