Since the 2000s, the project construction management business has worked on over 200 projects in Asia-Pacific for more than 100 blue-chip life sciences and pharmaceutical companies, with many repeat clients.Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:The Senior Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the project on site to ensure that it is completed safely, on schedule, within the budget and of the highest quality. Provide key link between General Foreman / MEP Field Manager / CSA and MEP Manager in the delivery of the project. Take active role in resolving key issues that are affecting the delivery of the project. Develop and train others within the team. Assume the role of Project Manager when the Project Manager is absent.Key AccountabilitiesTeamIdentify and document key lessons learnt and areas of opportunity upon project completion.Assist in development of the project staff.Organize and oversee jobsite administration.Organize and coordinate field supervision.Establish and maintain relationships with the Client and Contractors.EH&SSafety Leader.Ensure site follows company EH&S policies and procedures.Ensure all workers follow the site rules and that Vita supervise them in a consistent mannerCreate and maintain a safe/secure jobsite environmentSet a good example by personally complying with the project EH&S Program, including proper work attire and use of protective equipmentUnderstand that it will be unacceptable to walk past any unsafe or potentially unsafe act, without taking appropriate action to rectify.Be proactive and communicate EHS to the contractors’ managersCost and ProcurementBe thoroughly familiar with the requirements of the general contract and specific packages thereby identifying changes, conflicts, etc prior to them occurring.ScheduleResponsible to deliver the project to the agreed schedule with the client. Update project Manager of all issues regarding deliveries, installation and schedule.Provide input into the development of the overall progress schedule in conjunction with the Project Scheduler.Manage the Project Scheduler to produce meaningful 3 monthly schedules and develop systems for Vita package engineers and Field Engineers to coordinate contractor’s two weekly schedules. Provide useful forum for site coordination among the contractors.Monitor actual versus target or required performance by subcontractors. Make sure adequate information is received from the field so the data that the project scheduler produces is meaningful and up to date. Develop and communicate work around methods here required so the end dates are achieved in a safe manner.Communicate schedule concerns with the Modular Vendors and schedule section for weekly client meeting.Communicate schedule and schedule concerns with contractor’s senior management.Quality ControlEnsure consistency of key processes, project qualityEnsure Quality Assurance programs and policies are adhered to manage the QA manager and help with the development of practical procedures so that the work is constructed according to specification and the end requirements.Ensure that everyone is aware of the requirements of the Quality Plan.Be thoroughly familiar with the project requirements – drawings, specifications, procedures.Make sure there is good coordination with Vita QA/QC Manager and the Package Engineers in matters relating to the administration of quality control procedures on the jobsite.Make sure Package and Field Engineers Raise NCR’s and Punch list issues in a timely manner.Help the QA manager with pushing the contractors to rectify defects and NCR’s in a timely manner.RequirementsRecognised tertiary qualification in Building, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical), Architecture, Construction Management or a related disciplineMin. 10 years’ experience in the construction delivery of large-scale life sciences and cGMP facilities and experience in managing the turnover process for large scale manufacturing projects, preferably in Life Sciences sector.Candidates with design and build experience will have an added advantageVita is committed to being a diverse and inclusive employer of choice by engaging, enabling and empowering our people.
