What the role is:Sector Administration (SA) supports the Office of the Commissioner of Charities in its role as the Sector Administrator, overseeing charities and institutions of a public character (IPCs) in the social and welfare sector, in having a well-governed and thriving charity sector with strong public support. You will be part of a team of officers that ensures regulatory compliance and promote governance best practices of charities in the social and welfare sector. We are looking for passionate and committed officers to join our dynamic team, in line with our motto of 'Empowering Lives Graciously'.What you will be working on:
  • Assess applications for charity registration, IPC status and deregistration of charities • Monitor regulatory compliance of charities/IPCs and support the governance reviews of charities • Advise charities/IPCs on regulatory compliance and Code of Governance matters • Investigate complaints/feedback on charities and recommend follow-up • Other duties as assigned, e.g. collate and review key statistics for reporting purpose, provide input to MSF divisions and external agencies on charities under our purview
What we are looking for:
  • Tertiary qualifications in any discipline • A knowledge of accounting principles and ability to read and understand financial statements would be an advantage • An interest in compliance, regulatory or enforcement work • Good analytical and reasoning skills • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
