
Assistant Director of Nursing ( ADON )
Key Performance Area

Clinical Care
· Ensure the maintenance of effective and efficient care delivery and staffing of the wards.
· Responsible for the effective management of ward based on quality service programmes in compliance with the
Enhanced Nursing Home Standards ( ENHS ) and Infection Control programmes.
· Responsible for the evaluation of the work of nurses and healthcare staff under their supervision.
· Responsible for upholding the policies and values of the organisation and the nursing profession.
· Be updated on latest development in the in the field of nursing.
· Assist the Director of Nursing ( DON ) in meeting the requirements of Singapore Nursing Board / Licensing &
Accreditation Unit / Organisational rules, regulations, protocols, procedures.
Quality
· Co-ordinate teamwork in the day-to-day running of the wards and other departments; hence delivering quality care service to residents.
· Maintain systematic inventory control of medicine, surgical mask, gloves etc. in the wards and stock supply. Ensure medical equipment in the wards is utilised effectively and safe storage.
· To ensure nursing staffs are familiar with all emergency protocols such as fire & safety, evacuation, code blue
protocol.
· To effectively coordinate, manage and evaluate the services of all the wards in ensuring high standards of nursing care and patient safety are delivered at all times in accordance with legal, professional and organisational
requirements.
Training & Development
· Assist the DON in evaluating and maintaining a high standard of nursing care through clinical guidance, coaching, support and advice to nursing staffs.
· Assist the DON in identifying, planning and problem-solving decisions to meet training and development needs of nursing and support staff.
· Orientate all Enrolled / Staff Nurses upon their appointment and appraise EN/SN clinical assessment before their confirmation.
· Appraise all Nursing staffs when they renew their employment contracts and annual appraisal for bonus payment.
· Motivate staff to perform at their optimal level through performance management and coaching skills.

Administration
· Ensure the safe storage of all confidential files, records, documents; and maintain residents confidentiality at all times.
· Assist the DON in the recruitment of nursing staff to meet the changing needs of the Organisation.
· Ensure that effective and cooperative working relationships are maintained in the wards, other departments and external groups.
· Keep records of all equipment belonging to the wards and to ensure regular servicing is carried out for all life-saving / sensitive equipment.
Job Specification
Qualification : Registered Nurse with post graduate qualifications in management or clinical fields
Experience Level : More than 15 years of experience in supervisory position with Management and leadership skills in hospitals.
