
Research Technologist (DMODT)
We are looking for a Research Technologist for the Divison of Medical Oncology team.
They will be involved in assisting in day to day laboratory maintenance, experimental setup and tissue sample logistics. They will be trained in basic molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, western blot and cell culture. They will also have the opportunity to be trained in single -cell and single nuclei processing using 10x Genomics workflow.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in laboratory maintenance
- Weekly top up of laboratory consumables
- Weekly refill of pipette tips for autoclave
- Weekly checking of liquid nitrogen tank
- assist in cleaning of water bath and incubator water tray when needed
- Prepare reagent or buffers when required
- Clearing of biohazard waste
2. Assist in blood processing
- Processing of patient blood sample using Ficoll
- Ensure proper documentation of required information from blood processing
3. Assist in tissue logistics
- Sending of ice box to operating theatre
- Collection of patient tissue sample from pathology department
4. Assist in organoid culture
- Process tissue aseptically for culture of organoid
- Perform weekly maintenance for the organoid culture
- Ensure proper documentation of organoid inventory
5. Assist in genotype profiling of patient tumour sample and organoid
- DNA/RNA extraction from frozen tissue and organoid
- Submission of DNA/RNA samples to external sequencing partner
- Perform dPCR for genotype profiling of tumour sample and organoid
Requirements:
- Diploma in Biotechnology/Biomedical Science
- Currently pursuing part time degree
- Waiting admission to university
- Internship experience in diagnostic service laboratory or research laboratory
- Team player, strong collaborator
- Independent worker, possess initiative to complete tasks and projects assigned
- highly motivated to learn new techniques and not afraid to ask if unsure
