
Senior / Research Officer (DMODT)
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Officer to join the Division of Medical Oncology at National Cancer Centre Singapore.
You will be part of a clinical research team in Cancer Therapeutics Research Laboratory, working to translate genomics medicine into clinical practice. You will work closely with research fellows and clinicians to profile lung cancer across different malignancy stages and resistance track. You will be executing wet laboratory protocols including DNA extraction, bulk/single-cell RNA isolation, and lung organoid cultures. Experienced lab members will provide training and guidance.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project
- Performing literature reviews when required
- Plan and execute experiments for functional validation.
- Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental result and research findings.
- Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations/scientific manuscripts/ literature for publication
2. Maintenance of cell culture
- Maintenance of these cell lines and/or organoids in culture.
- To upkeep records on preserved organoid biobanked samples and assist with related efforts
3. Execution of functional genomics experiments
- Independently plan and execute experiments that includes cloning of genes and/or CRISPR to study the effect of mutation and expression of genes in cancer cell lines and organoids
- Proper upkeep of experimental data
- Be able to troubleshoot problems encountered when running experiments
4. Perform other related duties
- Laboratory upkeep and maintenance
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/Master of Science degree in related technical discipline (biology, cell biology, biomedical science, biochemistry or molecular biology)
- Experience working in a clinical or academic environment.
- Proficiency in wet lab techniques
- Relevant research experience with in-depth knowledge of molecular biology techniques (Cloning, PCR, CRISPR) will be valued
- Team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Independent worker, possess initiative to complete tasks and projects assigned.
- Highly motivated to learn new techniques and not afraid to ask if unsure.
- Able to undertake independent research progressively.
