About Centre for Governance and Sustainability

Established in 2010, the Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS) is a research centre that aims to conduct high-quality academic research in the areas of corporate governance and corporate sustainability.

The Centre undertakes dialogues with business practitioners, government officials and regulators to disseminate our research output so as to create and promote best practices amongst corporations, governments, and academia. CGS also conducts applied projects in corporate governance, institutions and organisations that are relevant to practice and policy-making; and organises industry and research conferences/seminars.

CGS is the go-to Centre for robust and impactful research and thought leadership on governance and sustainability in Singapore and Asia, which is recognised globally.

Job Description

The incumbent will provide crucial support to the Centre’s day-to-day operations, research projects, business development, marketing and publicity outreach activities. He/She will be assisting the Senior Manager in administrative and finance support, business development, event planning as well as internal and external stakeholder engagement.

1) Administrative Support (HR, Finance-related matters and day-to-day office operations)

  • Administrative dutiesResponsible for day-to-day support and setting up of meetings
  • Recruitment of student research assistants, interns and casual staffProvide administrative support with job postings and do the necessary paperwork
    Understand the different work schemes for each job type
  • Execute the paperwork and IT support for new colleagues and new casual staff working on research projects
  • Finance-related dutiesSupport the procurement-related matters for the centre which include monthly tracking, reconciliation of expenses, and issuing invoices

2) Website and database update

  • Regular updates to the CGS website on new research reports, media mentions, events, publicity, etc.
  • Maintain and update contacts in the CGS’s database which include tracking valid email addresses, updating of job titles and inputting new contacts

3) Business Development Support

  • Assist with meeting preparations
  • Attend external business meetings and assist with follow-up
  • Assist with executive programme planning

4) Event Planning and Logistics

  • Assist with event planning and adapt standard operating procedure (SOP) to current events and meetings
  • Supervise student helpers during events and guide them in customer service response
  • Provide customer service support during events

5) Internal Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with admin staff and faculty members on CGS’s admin and research matters
  • Maintain a good relationship with the NUS admin team on admin processes

6) External stakeholder engagement

  • Provide secretariat support for board meetings
  • Respond to companies and organisations’ queries

Qualifications

  1. Recognised University degree or equivalent with 2 to 3 years of relevant working experience
  2. Mature, independent candidate
  3. Detailed, meticulous and organised
  4. Ability to work independently with minimum instructions
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  6. Proficient in spoken Mandarin due to the need to interact frequently with local, regional and Chinese stakeholders
  7. Possess excellent customer relations skills
  8. Good team player
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office word and excel
