We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant (RA) to join our team in the field of synthetic biology and enzyme design. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research focused on developing novel biocatalysts and synthetic pathways. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in biochemistry or biology and a passion for scientific research.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and construction of synthetic biological systems and enzyme engineering projects.
- Perform molecular cloning experiments, including DNA manipulation, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
- Support protein expression, purification, and characterization using standard biochemical techniques.
- Maintain cell cultures, troubleshoot experimental procedures, and ensure smooth lab operations.
- Analyze experimental data, maintain detailed records, and collaborate with team members to optimize research protocols.
- Bachelors degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of molecular cloning, protein expression, and purification (preferred but not required).
- Experience with PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with enzyme assays, protein characterization methods (e.g., spectrophotometry, HPLC, SDS-PAGE), bacterial/yeast transformation, or synthetic biology tools is a plus.
