Job Summary:

The Project Engineer in the Building Management System (BMS) industry is responsible for the design, implementation, and commissioning of BMS solutions for commercial, industrial, and critical environment buildings. This role involves working closely with clients, contractors, and installation teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Engineer will also provide technical support and troubleshooting during and after project completion during the Defect Liability Period. The Project Engineer must comply to company’s policy and objectives and the requirement towards achieving quality, environmental, occupational health and safety policy are in use ad practice at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Design:

  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Design BMS solutions, including control systems, HVAC, lighting, security, and energy management systems.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and system specifications.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.

2. Project Implementation:

  • Ensure the Bill Of Material are in accordance to the Purchase Order, specifications and drawings.
  • Oversee the installation and configuration of BMS hardware and software.
  • Program and integrate BMS controllers, sensors, and other devices.
  • Conduct system testing and commissioning to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.

3. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Conduct training sessions for clients and end-users on system operation and maintenance.

4. Project Management:

  • Develop project timelines and ensure milestones are met.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and submit regular project status reports to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

5. Client Relationship Management:

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and concerns promptly.
  • Provide post-project support and maintenance services as required.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling or expanding BMS solutions.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Fresh graduate or experienced in the BMS industry or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and commissioning BMS projects would be a value add.
  • Familiarity with BMS protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, etc. would be a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in BMS software and programming tools e.g., Tridium would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, lighting, and energy management systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn
