Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement hypervisor solutions, including architecture, configuration, and deployment.
  • Develop virtualisation strategies aligned with business and IT requirements.
  • Ensure scalability and reliability in hypervisor deployments.
  • Manage and maintain virtualisation infrastructure, including hypervisors, virtual machines, and virtual networks.
  • Oversee hypervisor configurations, updates, and patch management.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery preparedness for virtual environments.
  • Continuously monitor and optimise hypervisor performance.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to maximise efficiency and uptime.
  • Implement resource allocation strategies for optimal workload distribution.
  • Apply patches and updates in accordance with the Authority’s security requirements.
  • Implement security best practices to protect virtualisation infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and organisational policies.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for hypervisor-related issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex virtualisation problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of hypervisor infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.
  • Contribute to knowledge management systems to facilitate troubleshooting and best practices.
  • Develop technical guidelines and user manuals for internal teams.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Proven experience with hypervisor technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM, Xen).
  • Strong knowledge of virtualisation infrastructure, networking, and storage solutions.
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, etc.).
  • Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards.
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud-based virtualisation platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Understanding of containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
