- Performs heel prick tests for neonates.
- Performs all in-house laboratory tests according to standard procedures and report results to clinicians.
- Familiarise with the workflows and technical bench work across all laboratory sections and rotating independently through each sections.
- Issues of blood products to patients promptly and accurately.
- Manages the inventory of blood products with proper inventory.
- Coordinates with dispatch staff to ensure the timely delivery and collection of blood and blood products.
- Receives specimens and enter test orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), ensuring all patient information and test orders align with the specimens received.
- Enters test results accurately into the system.
- Calibrates, conducts quality control and maintain laboratory equipment according to established procedures.
- Prepares test media and reagents for the analytical procedures.
- Conducts weekly laboratory stock inventories.
- Maintains accurate and thorough records according to established guidelines.
- Assists in activities required by Accreditation Bodies, including scheduled verification of test performance.
- Participates in the evaluation of new instrumentation and test methodologies.
- Maintains a clinically safe testing environment in compliance with established safety standards.
- Disposes of biohazardous and chemical wastes safely in accordance with guidelines.
- Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences or relevant Diploma.
- Minimum of 2 years working experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist preferably in Clinical Laboratory.
- Available to perform shift duties including night and on public holidays.
