Vice President - Trade Management (APAC)
Job Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President – Trade to lead and manage trade operations, develop strategic partnerships, and drive profitability. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of global shipping practices, NVOCC operations, and trade lane management, along with exceptional leadership, analytical, and negotiation skills.
1. Trade Lane Management & Market Strategy:
· Oversee and optimize trade lane performance by analyzing market trends, pricing structures, and operational efficiencies.
· Develop and execute strategies to maximize profitability and market share in major trade lanes.
2. Contract & Relationship Management:
· Negotiate deadfreight contracts, service terms, and agreements with ocean carriers, third-party logistics providers, and customers.
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with feeder operators, Main Line Operators (MLOs), and key stakeholders.
3. Deadfreight Management:
· Lead negotiations for deadfreight contracts, ensuring cost-effective terms and conditions.
· Make strategic decisions to optimize cargo planning and ensuring profitability in deadfreights
· Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance overall efficiency.
4. Pricing & Commercial Acumen
· Formulate and implement pricing strategies, ensuring alignment with market trends and customer expectations.
· Conduct pricing analysis and competitive benchmarking to enhance profitability and market competitiveness.
5. Leadership & Team Management:
· Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team to achieve business objectives.
· Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the trade team.
6. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
· Deliver impactful presentations and reports to stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal leadership.
· Effectively communicate trade performance, challenges, and opportunities to senior management.
Qualifications & Skills:
· In-depth knowledge of global shipping practices, NVOCC operations, and trade lane management.
· Strong experience in contracts, service terms with ocean carriers, third-party logistics providers, and customers.
· Expertise in deadfreight contract negotiations, decision-making, optimization, and planning.
· Comprehensive understanding of market trends, pricing structures, and trade lane performance metrics.
· Established network with feeder operators and MLOs.
· Exceptional communication, negotiation, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
· Proven leadership and people management capabilities.
· Strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in shipping, NVOCC operations, or trade management, with a proven track record of success in similar leadership roles
