UWCSEA East has an internship opportunity to support our Drama Team at the East Campus.Reporting to the Theatre Technical Manager and Wardrobe Master & Costume Designer, the Costume Drama Intern is responsible for the care and maintenance of finished costume as used in productions or curriculum performances. The intern will provide hands-on assistance with locating and preparing costumes for loans as well as cleaning and returning loaned costumes after use. The intern will also assist in making minor alterations or repairs of costumes. During non-show weeks, the intern may be required to assist with inventory stock-take of the costume shore or in another costume-related field as determined by the Wardrobe Master & Costume Designer.Main Responsibilities
  • Review of costumes prior to each performance.
  • Assist with costumes load-in, strike, and dressing as assigned.
  • Assist actors with dressing and quick changes.
  • Maintenance of show costumes including laundry and repair.
  • Maintain clean and safe workspace.
  • Perform pre-show setup and post-show clean up.
  • Perform emergency costume repairs as necessary.
  • Attend fittings and rehearsals as needed.
  • Ensure proper placement of costume pieces prior to show.
  • Any other tasks as requested by the Costume Shop Manager or the PM.
Person Specifications
  • Basic sewing or hand stitching experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate a domestic sewing machine preferred.
  • Ability to operate an industrial sewing machines (not necessary but would be a great added skill).
  • Knowledge of textiles.
