Role purposeTo lead the South & Southeast (SSEA) Asia Global Risk Analysis (GRA) practice to support clients with political and regulatory risk matters emanating from and/or impacting the SSEA market. This role will lead a diverse team of analysts to design and execute SSEA-focused political and strategic risk consulting and retainers to support the firm’s clients, while serving as key in-house expert on SSEA risk issues and maintaining a network within the SSEA business and political risk ecosystem.The position also manages the growth and profitability of the SSEA GRA business, and ensures the team is successfully integrated with the rest of the firm’s services in our “one-firm” approach.The position will be an active part of the GRA Asia Pacific management team, reporting directly to the Partner-Head of the GRA Asia Pacific practice, and working closely with the GRA Northeast Asia, Japan and Oceana teams on strategy, client advisory and retainer solutions, and operational standards to ensure a consistent approach across the region.Role tasks and responsibilitiesLeadership, team development, business management Lead high-performing, diverse SSEA team of analysts to deliver high-quality political risk horizon-scanning, analysis and advisory, with tailored commercial insights to address complex problems, to senior stakeholders and clients.
 Manage SSEA practice to achieve commercial goals (profitability and growth).
 Drive the broader objective of developing a team with the skills and proactive culture to actively engage with clients, solve difficult problems for clients, support our risk analysis retainers and grow the business.
 Oversee the team’s deliverables for quality assurance related to risk analysis, commercial insights and client relevance.
 Help drive innovation in our reporting and solutions, including the adoption of technology tools for political risk analysis and reporting.
 Promote a positive culture in the wider team; act as leader, mentor and advisor to GRA practitioners within the region.
 Work collaboratively with the APAC Partner group to drive commercial success through a positive and inclusive work environment.Analysis and expertise – consulting and retainers Serve as an intellectual leader on SSEA risk issues, producing and delivering thought leadership and driving critical thinking on the issues within the SSEA team and broader stakeholders (Partner Group, business community).
 Produce thematic and macro political risk analysis for consulting projects and retainers, including on politics, markets, security, and business integrity.
 Provide strategic and tactical guidance to clients on global, regional and local political and regulatory risk issues and lead the team in delivering complex political risk consulting projects.
 Work closely with the firm’s business intelligence, digital risks and security practices to deliver cross-practice advisory solutions for complex client engagements.
 Cultivate a regional and local network of political and regulatory risk stakeholders in government, academia, journalism and business.Business development and market/media work Help develop and lead strategy for the team to expand our footprint in the market and deepen our relationship with existing clients, and grow revenue and profitability.
 Manage a portfolio of client accounts and serve as an active, visible member of our client and business community.
 Meet annual targets for account growth and new business generation.
 Undertake broadcast and print media work and represent the firm at industry events.
 Contribute to firm-wide publications and client facing BD initiatives.RequirementsKnowledge and experience Deep understanding of SSEA political and regulatory risk issues and ability articulate those risk issues and solutions, both through written analysis and verbal briefs. Excellent knowledge of our industry and competitors across the region. Proven experience of setting strategy and growing a business. Proven experience of effectively managing a team and driving high performance. Demonstrated ability to build highly effective client relationships at a senior level.Qualifications and specialist skills 8-12+ years of experience in the SSEA-related political risk, government affairs or policy community and demonstrated knowledge of regional risk issues Strong ability to write and present sharp, insightful analysis for clients Prior experience leading political risk consulting teams strongly preferred Understanding of and prior experience working with political risk client buyers and senior stakeholders Strong commercial acumen as demonstrated by leading profitable teams and projects Advanced degree in international affairs/public policy preferredControl Risks is committed to a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
