Research Officer, Lab of Metagenomic Technologies & Microbial Systems (GIS)

Key responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret microbiome sequencing datasets (metagenomics, metatranscriptomics).
Develop and optimize workflows and pipelines for large-scale microbiome data processing.
Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to identify microbiome patterns and biomarkers.
Integrate microbiome datasets with clinical and environmental data.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive insights.
Document research findings, present at meetings, and contribute to scientific publications.
Stay updated on emerging bioinformatics methodologies and tools.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor or Master degree in Computational Biology, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and programming skills (Python, R, UNIX environment etc).
• Experience processing and analysing next generation sequencing (NGS) datasets.
• Familiarity with statistical approaches in biological data analysis.
• Interest in exploring biological questions relating to the human microbiome.
• Prior work in microbial genomics, microbiome datasets, or genomics/bioinformatics labs preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
