The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating power cranes safely and efficiently to lift, move, position, and load materials or equipment at construction sites, factories, or other work environments. The operator will ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations, maintaining a safe working environment while operating heavy lifting equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate various types of power cranes, including mobile, tower, and overhead cranes, to lift, move, position, and load materials and equipment.
  • Control crane movements and ensure precise positioning of loads.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections of cranes and lifting equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks and report any malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Follow all safety regulations and guidelines, including relevant OSHA standards and company-specific safety procedures.
  • Ensure load limits are never exceeded and always verify that materials are properly secured.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while operating the crane.
  • Work closely with ground crew or signal persons to safely position materials and ensure secure lifts.
  • Assist in the safe unloading and placement of materials on construction sites or in storage areas.
  • Complete daily logs of crane operations, including equipment checks, load weights, and work performed.
  • Report any safety concerns, accidents, or incidents involving crane operations to management.
  • Respond to emergency situations by operating the crane to assist in rescue or recovery operations as needed.
  • Keep the crane and work area clean and organized at all times.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid crane operator certification from a recognized body (e.g., NCCCO, API, or local regulatory authority).
  • Certification in crane operation or heavy equipment operation is mandatory.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience as a crane operator, preferably in construction, industrial, or heavy lifting environments.
  • Familiarity with different types of cranes (mobile, tower, overhead) and lifting equipment.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent knowledge of crane operation and safety protocols.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex instructions and signals.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to assess risks and hazards.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, climb and work at heights, and operate heavy machinery.
  • Good vision and hearing to safely monitor the environment and crane operations.
