
Mould Designer
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparation and Presentation:
- Prepare and present Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reports, mould designs, Mould Flow Analysis, and provide expertise in mould tweaking to optimize production processes.
- Strong knowledge of DFM principles, ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and product quality.
- Experience with Mould Flow Analysis software (e.g., Moldflow) to simulate and evaluate potential manufacturing challenges.
- Expertise in mould tweaking, improving designs during production trials to enhance performance and efficiency.
Tool Design:
- Create comprehensive tool design assembly layouts for various moulds.
- Prepare and issue detailed 2D drawings of inserts and mould bases, including appropriate tolerances for manufacturing.
- Ensure tool designs are manufacturable and can estimate cycle times based on the design specifications.
- Develop tool designs that support efficient production with minimal cycle time.
- Ensure tool designs can run in automatic cycles, improving production efficiency.
Customer Liaison:
- Liaise with customers for DFM and tool design discussions, ensuring their requirements are met and providing technical support.
- Assist in managing customer-driven engineering changes, ensuring smooth adaptation of designs.
Continuous Improvement & Review:
- Continuously improve tool concepts to enhance functionality, cost-efficiency, and product quality.
- Conduct tool design reviews to present design concepts and receive feedback.
- Endorse and release tooling drawings to the tool room for mould manufacturing, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
- Raise purchase requisitions for tooling-related direct and indirect purchases as needed.
Additional Support:
- Provide CAM programming support when required.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by superiors.

Job Requirements:
· Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical – Tool and Die specialization) or its equivalents, ITC or Nitec Certificate
· Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in plastic tooling design
· Hands-on experience in designing various types of mould design, proficiency in NX CAD and CAE, preferably on Unigraphics, MPA Autodesk
· Good knowledge in engineering plastic properties
· Knowledge and design experience in medical moulds, LSR moulds and micro moulds
· Knowledge and design experience in high cavitation moulds
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $3,500.00 - $4,800.00 per month
