The incumbent shall provide early identification and intervention in the areas of counselling, skill development and support services to vulnerable children/youth and their families.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- To assess the individual needs of children/youth/family in the areas of family capacity, emotional stability, peer relations and community profile. This involves conducting intervention like working with their thought processes, feelings and behaviour.
- To conduct individual or group interventions, with evidence-based counselling and therapeutic modalities that will help the clients process and overcome their behavioural, emotional and thinking issues.
- To develop and implement intervention plans within programme guidelines in consultation with the Senior Counsellor.
- To share the treatment/intervention plan with caregivers, teachers, counsellors, social workers and other stakeholders, while remaining involved in the care of the client, revising the treatment protocol as and when needed.
- To maintain documentation detailing service plans, outcome measures, community contacts and referrals.
- To provide counselling and work with parents of clients on their parenting skills as part of the treatment/intervention plan.
- To attend meetings, case conferences, case discussion and able to work well with all stakeholders in the clients’ system.
- To carry out work in a professional manner, including protecting the confidentiality of the counselling sessions, and the clients.
- To keep proper case records of clients. This includes clients’ personal information, reports and proper documentation of all sessions and clients.
- To work in close collaboration with the other staff of the Home and of the other components of Boys’ Town in matters pertaining to the welfare of the clients.
- To provide coaching/training/consultation to Boys’ Town staff either individually or in group context.
- To conduct talks/workshops on selected mental health topics for the community (e.g. schools, parents, families, peer supporters, volunteers, other social service agencies.
- To participate in roadshows and community programmes in support of children and youth mental health.
- To participate in research as and when required.
Job Requirements
- Post-graduate in Counselling /Therapy OR Master's in counselling from an accredited institution.
- Preferably min. 1 year experience in counselling and working with children and/or youth and their families.
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in coordinating care for clients.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possess humility, emotional maturity, empathy and self-reflexive in working with client.
- Energetic, dynamic and willingness to learn.
- Strong commitment to professional ethics and integrity.
- Demonstrates passion for working with children and youth and complex psychosocial issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
