We are seeking a skilled Technical / Heat Treatment Engineer to oversee material selection, processing, and heat treatment operations. The role involves ensuring materials meet performance standards, optimizing treatment processes, and troubleshooting material failures.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Selection & Specification:
- Evaluate and recommend materials based on mechanical, thermal, and chemical requirements.
- Work with design and production teams to ensure material compatibility with manufacturing processes.
Heat Treatment & Metallurgical Processes:
- Develop and implement heat treatment processes such as annealing, quenching, tempering, carburizing, nitriding, and induction hardening.
- Monitor heat treatment parameters to ensure compliance with industry standards (ASTM, ISO, NADCAP, etc.).
- Conduct metallurgical testing (hardness, microstructure, tensile, impact, etc.).
Quality Control & Failure Analysis:
- Perform metallurgical failure analysis and provide corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with material testing procedures and regulatory standards.
- Work with QA/QC teams to resolve material defects and non-conformities.
Process Optimization & R&D:
- Develop new materials and improve existing processes for better performance and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with R&D for advanced material technologies.
Technical Support & Documentation:
- Prepare technical reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and specifications.
- Provide technical guidance to production teams and suppliers.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in heat treatment, metallurgy, or material engineering.
- Knowledge of heat treatment equipment, furnaces, and metallurgy principles.
- Proficiency in metallurgical testing and characterization techniques.
- Familiarity with industry standards (ASTM, SAE, ISO, AMS, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
