LECTURER, COMMS & GLOBAL SKILLS - HMIS
This is a 2-year position position as a Lecturer, Communications & Global Skills in the School of Humanities & Interdisciplinary Studies.
We are seeking dynamic and passionate individuals to join our academic team in English Language & Communication. The successful candidate will be expected to develop/teach Bridging English and other relevant modules under the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP). Additionally, the new hire will also be expected to apply a wider range of skillsets and be able to develop/teach the school’s critical core modules related to Communication and Global Skills.
[What you will be working on]
Curriculum development and course delivery (face-to-face/online) for youth and adult learners in the following areas:
English Language & Communication (including Foundational Level)
Current Affairs & Global Studies
Culture & Community
Academic Writing, Critical Thinking, Research & Presentation
Lead and identify new opportunities, initiatives and collaborations with the industry, institutes of higher learnings & related agencies
Manage administrative work related to teaching and assigned projects
Mentor and provide pastoral care to students
Provide leadership (where required) in project and/or module teams
[What we are looking for]
Relevant tertiary qualification and at least 3 years of relevant teaching/industry experience in any of these areas: English Language, Communication, History, Sociology, Political Science, International Relations, Geography or related disciplines in the Arts & Humanities
Ability to help students acquire foundational skills in the English Language, provide broad perspectives and nurture critical and analytical thinking skills
Strong interest in mentoring and developing youth
An agile team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Project/time management and attention to detail
A growth mindset and openness to employ creative teaching methods in the classroom
