Job Description:
A position exists to develop vaccines against Mycobacterium abscessus using proprietary A*STAR vehicles. The position will require a candidate to rationally select antigens for entry into the production pipeline, design and construct relevant expression vectors, and perform immunisation/challenge experiments in permissive animal models of M. abscessus infection.
The applicant will be expected to collaborate with other members of the Bacterial Pathogenesis Lab (Oehlers Lab) and other researchers across the Aquatic Diseases (AQUADTV) and Aquapolis programs, and the (human) mycobacterial infection program across A*STAR IDL. The applicant is expected to be self-motivated and contribute ideas beyond the initial scope of the project that can be developed either by the scientist themselves or through the provision of additional manpower as determined by merit.
Our professional development program includes annual external training and opportunities to present your work to internal and external audiences.
The applicant will be required to document their vaccine development work for potential Intellectual Property filing and will have the opportunity to share in ownership of commercial outputs of their work.
Job Requirements:
PhD in infection biology or vaccine design.
At least 3 years of relevant experience during PhD study.
Bacterial culture: including culture of pathogenic bacteria.
Molecular biology: gene cloning and protein expression.
In vivo infection: aquatic infection models and profiling of host immune markers.
Presentation and report writing: minimum 3 first author publications on related topic.
