UWCSEA East has a vacancy for a Gymnastic Coach - Competitive/Recreational. We are looking for great coaches who are experienced in coaching in all areas of gymnastics from Recreation, Excel and Competitive Gymnastics in both MAG and WAG from May 2025. This role reports to the Head of Gymnastics. Please note that to apply for this role, you must reside in Singapore.
Main Responsibilities
Coaching:
- Assist in planning a gymnastics curriculum for different levels and ensure that coaching techniques are in accordance to best practices
- Execute all aspects of gymnastic coaching (skill acquisition, choreography, physical preparation), promote positive motivation and maintain disciplined culture within the programme.
- Prepare, plan and deliver technically sound session plans across the programme (from Infants through Recreationals to Competitive Squads)
- Monitor attendance/progress (training and competition) including periodic physical and skill testing for all gymnasts
- Approach student and athletes within UWC safeguarding guidelines
- Assist PE teachers with delivering PE lessons during gymnastics units throughout the school year
- Look at every setback during coaching as an opportunity to learn and improve
- To work with team members to achieve a common goal and improving as a team
Operational (providing daily oversight so as to ensure):
- Optimal usage of the gymnasium and equipment
- Maintain hazard awareness within the program by implementing safety instructions and reporting to Head of Gymnastics if needed
- Safe handling of equipment, usage guidelines are adhered to and advising equipment/training aid shortages etc.
- Covering for colleagues if needed within the range of full time hours
Administrative:
- Assist with the signup process, in line with the program (4 times per year)
- Respond to and follow up any parent enquiries by email and telephone
- Participate in staff meetings, training, events, competitions, reviews and meets as scheduled.
- Assist with assessments, registrations, trials, apparatus rotations, and camps.
- Maintain uptodate records of students Injuries
- Liaise with Head of Gymnastics on administrative duties when necessary
Hosting Meets and Invitationals:
- Work with the Head of Gymnastics and facilities team in equipment set up in accordance to competition guidelines
- Assist to Head of Gymnastics with tasks in preparation for hosting
- Assist in liaising with parent volunteers and High School volunteers and provide direction and guidance to their supporting role
- Assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs with similar levels of responsibility and complexity to the assigned job grade as may be reasonably requested by the line manager and/or the College.
Person Specifications
- Qualified Gymnastics coach with excellent experience in coaching.
- Holding qualification Intermediate Coach (Level 1B) within Singapore Gymnastics accreditation structure (or equivalent).
- At least 3 years of experience.
- All-round knowledge of Gymnastics and development requirements pertaining to different ag e groups.
- Adopt an appropriate approach to ag e group training focusing on technical competence, team-building and long-term success.
- Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills and is able to relate to students, parents and teachers with quality service.
- Able to work cohesively in a team based environment as well as independently with a positive working attitude and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of school life.
- Familiar with Google Suite or equivalent software.
- Able to work during weekends and evenings.
