IMDA is spearheading Singapore’s drive to be a world leading Digital Economy. We are looking for a Director for our Emerging Technologies Division to conceptualise, develop, and implement R&D strategies. This director will be a part of the Business and Technology group that focuses on driving research strategies on frontier technologies that supports Digital Economy efforts.

The successful candidate is an experienced leader in the technology space, passionate about technology trends and familiar with the Research, Innovation, Enterprise (RIE) space. The candidate is excited about emerging technologies and has demonstrated experience working with multiple stakeholders to develop national policies for fast-moving technologies. The candidate will lead a team to ensure successful strategy execution.

Responsibilities

  • Own the conceptualisation, development, and implementation of our R&D strategies, ensuring alignment to Singapore’s overall vision and national policies.
  • Drive proactive stakeholder engagement across the spectrum to ensure our strategies, programmes, and initiatives enjoy stellar support across all quarters, including internal teams, research partners, agencies, industry, and senior government stakeholders.
  • Oversee the design, tracking, and timely reporting of success indicators and KPIs for R&D Programmes. Delight in making continuous improves to maximise the effectiveness of our programmes.
  • Advance the interests and brand of the Business Technology Group in the international arena, including driving research to support standardization, representing the group at academic events, participating in standard-setting bodies, and supporting the Group’s brand and evangelisation strategy.
  • Responsible for the growth, morale, and success of the team. Instill a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, making the organisation a great place to work.

Requirements

  • Holds at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related fields with at least 15 years of relevant experience in AI, Communications Technologies, Green Tech or Trust Technologies. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Proven track record in strategy development, especially in ability to effectively engage and socialize strategies with senior government and industry stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in overseeing strategy execution.
  • Familiarity with the National Research Foundation’s Research, Innovation, Enterprise (RIE) programmes, including its constituent committees, policies, and processes.
  • Exceptional communications and storytelling skills, with the ability to frame and articulate analyses and assessments in a clear and succinct manner.
  • Proven success in mentoring and nurturing high performing and motivated teams, delivering complex projects on-time and on-target.
