The Program

Our program is structured to foster growth and equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for a role in Economic Research.

  • Year 1: Gain hands-on experience with the research team and diversified trading desks in Singapore and destination offices.
  • Year 2: Further develop your skill set, gain deeper market exposure, and increase your business involvement.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, you will be offered a permanent role in Economic Research.

Responsibilities

As a research trainee, you will provide market insights and outlooks by analyzing data related to commodity supply and demand (S&D), livestock feed, and macroeconomics across Southeast Asia, collaborating with the wider global researchers and trading teams to support strategic decision-making. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining S&D data, linking animal feed demand to market developments.
  • Monitoring economic trends, policies, and currency fluctuations that impact feed balance.
  • Tracking trade flows and feed demand while coordinating with destination teams to ensure timely S&D adjustments.
  • Communicating S&D changes to research and commercial teams, synthesizing and presenting insights to help stakeholders understand market dynamics and key drivers.
  • Contributing to the development of quantitative models and methodologies to enhance forecasting capabilities.

Role

This role requires a strong ability to navigate and interpret complex market dynamics. Accurately forecasting supply and demand amidst fluctuating market conditions, policy changes, opaque data, and global economic shifts will be your primary challenge. Success in this position demands:

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to synthesize vast amounts of data into actionable insights.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with both local and global teams to ensure timely, strategic decisions in a highly competitive environment.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor / Master Degree in Economics / Business and genuine interest in agricultural market and economics is a plus
  • Strong affinity with data and ability to summarize large quantity of data into actionable insights in both written and oral form
  • Know how to explain complex ideas in a simple way and ability to work with teams in different geographical locations
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated & problem-solver with an attentive mindset
  • Ability to understand the business needs & potential issues and propose innovative ideas/solution
  • Very good knowledge and experience in Excel or advanced program eg Python/PowerBI/Tableau is a plus
