Job Summary
The Lead Repair Development Engineer, Advanced Machining & Tooling, is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing in conventional and non-conventional machining process for a variety of industrial gas turbine components. You will be part of AMRT (Advanced Manufacturing & Repair Technology) Advanced Machining team and support industrialization of process around the global repair network to deliver quality and productivity, as well as transactional services growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- The focus for this role is to lead to identify, develop, industrialize, and machining process on milling, grinding, fast hole EDM, sinker EDM for the services network. This role can affect short-term and long-term business goals.
- Hands-on development on repair required and partner with partner for qualification and industrialization of the development.
- Provide technical guidance for engineers and specialist in the repair centers in the execution of design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering practices and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Assure all machining and tooling processes meet required specifications, considering the quality and productivity aspects for these technologies in the global service centers.
- Deliver processes to meet NPI and productivity initiatives, for both CS and Transactional markets.
- Utilize lean-manufacturing values and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs, and increase capacity.
- Maintain schedules for the project deliverables and communicate progress to all levels of the organization.
- Assist with equipment upgrades from purchase through installation
- Conduct cost/benefit assessments for possible changes to processes and/or equipment
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Mentor and train less experienced personnel both within the organization and throughout the repair network.
Qualifications/ Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college
- Minimum 5 additional years of experience working in, with, and/or supporting machining development in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong CAD/CAM Skills, proven ability to translate 3D models into tool movement and machine movement that achieves design goals.
- Basic Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing practices
- Able to demonstrate experience in project management and hands on trials on machining process
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Ability and willingness to travel a minimum 10% of the time, as required
- Additional experience in manufacturing and/or component repair for Industrial gas turbine, steam turbines, generators, or Aero engines would be advantages
