Job Description
This role reports to the Head of Legal & Compliance, APAC, based in Singapore and indirectly reports to the Managing Director, APAC.
- Provide legal advice on a diverse range of matters in particular relating to commercial and contractual, employment, privacy, intellectual property, real estate issues across the business and operations for 13 APAC countries (including China and India);
- Working autonomously and owning key business stakeholder relationships across APAC (including China and India);
- Assisting in the development in the business and collaborating with other members of the legal & compliance team and regional management team to develop and deliver key legal & compliance function outcomes;
- Assisting in developing relationships, processes and procedures across 13 APAC countries (including China and India) to provide efficient and effective legal services to the India business team through the identification and management of risk;
- Assisting with or drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising of a range of commercial agreements with our customers, vendors and suppliers;
- Assist the business to resolving any contractual dispute, administrative actions, with our customers and suppliers and any non-compliance with relevant government authorities and provide support in disputes, regulatory actions, legal notices across 13 APAC countries (including China and India);
- Able to assist in corporate secretarial service support with the assistance of external legal and corporate secretarial service provider;
- Providing support and assisting in any legal & compliance project either regionally or globally;
- Providing legal & compliance trainings to the business and operations across 13 APAC countries;
- Regularly monitor legal updates (cases, legislation, regulations, media releases from relevant authorities and regulators) and ensure stakeholders and regularly updated on all relevant matters;
- Providing support to Deputy General Counsel on any matter as may be instructed by him;
- Extending support in managing compliance issues across 13 APAC countries.
Qualifications:
- Minimum LLB or JD or its equivalent from a top law schools/universities in Singapore, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand universities, JD from universities in America;
- 3 to 7 years PQE from either international law firm or a top tier or mid-tier law firm in Singapore or Malaysia or in-house role in Singapore or Malaysia legal experience in a multi-national company or large Singapore or Malaysian companies with exposure to and experience in a range of corporate/commercial matters;
- Able to speak, read, write and draft in Chinese language as well as ability to speak or write in another Asian language is a must,
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple and varied tasks, including organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work autonomously as well part of a broader team;
- A “common sense” approach when handling legal matters that balances legal requirements with commercial considerations;
- Passion for accuracy and Excellent attention to detail;
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills and the ability to manage a variety of stakeholders;
- Able to build collaborative and productive working relations with key stakeholders across 13 APAC countries (including China and India);
- Should be dynamic and open to adapting and embracing new challenges;
- Very High level of integrity and responsibility;
- Has the confidence to speak up and challenge decisions when required;
