Job PurposeYou are required to provide underwriting support within the risk management framework of GELS prescribed guidelines, for individual product lines (especially high net worth products).The Job
  • Provide underwriting due diligence on new applications, within the prescribed guidelines by GELS and Reinsurance partners
  • Identify risks and apply best underwriting practices in line with the industry standard
  • Provide competitive, yet risk appropriate underwriting advice and market leading underwriting services
  • Provide critical liaison and build strong business relationship with distribution channels (Agency, Bancassurance & Brokers), Group Risk Management, Products, Actuarial, Reinsurers, etc.
  • Proactively seek for HNW process improvement and instill a culture of customer first approach
  • Ensure timely and adequate support for business, including training for distribution channels
  • Support in the reviewing and updating of underwriting guidelines for High Net Worth products
  • Project management, e.g. review & streamline work processes to support business operations, prepare SOPs, review forms etc.
  • Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
  • Highlights any potential concerns/ risks and proactively shares best risk management practices
QualificationsOur Requirements
  • Degree with at least 8 years of solid experience in underwriting Life, Disability, Critical Illness, Accident and Health risks
  • Prior experience of HNW underwriting is preferred
  • Previous exposure to post-issue underwriting and post-claims underwriting is preferred
  • Leadership ability, team player, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving skills and business acumen
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
