About the Role:
Grade Level (for internal use):
10As a Senior Price Reporter, you will be instrumental in assessing prices and producing news, analysis, and critical insights that drive market transparency and efficiency in the Asian chemicals markets. Your expertise will be vital in advancing benchmark adoption and advocacy, supporting the leadership team to mentor junior reporters, and spearheading enhancements in pricing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive Benchmark Adoption:
Spearhead and support initiatives to promote the adoption of pricing benchmarks. Advocate for best practices while establishing and nurturing strong relationships with market participants to enhance credibility and transparency.
Mentorship and Guidance:
Support the leadership team to mentor and guide junior reporters by sharing your knowledge and expertise. Foster their professional growth through constructive feedback and support in market reporting and analysis.
Methodology Leadership:
Drive and support changes in pricing methodologies to ensure they remain relevant and effective. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify improvement areas and implement enhancements that increase the accuracy and reliability of price assessments.
Market Reporting:
Report on daily physical trading activities to produce accurate pricing through information gathering from diverse market contacts. Write insightful daily commentaries that explain market trends and create timely news stories.
Engagement and Networking:
Build and maintain a robust database of industry contacts while actively engaging with market participants to gather insights and foster collaboration.
Represent Commodity Insights at industry events through participation and presentation to enhance S&P Global’s visibility in the market.
What We’re Looking For:
Required Skills:
A BA degree or higher in a relevant field.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
A self-starter mindset complemented by strong problem-solving abilities.
Proficient research skills and the ability to perform under tight deadlines.
Excellent written and spoken English skills.
Cultural and social sensitivity.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-6 years of experience in reporting, writing, analytics, or industry roles preferred.
Knowledge of the chemicals, polymers, or refining sectors, or a strong interest in global commodity markets.
Understanding of economic principles.
Strong numeracy skills, including basic statistical principles and proficiency in Excel.
Fluency in Mandarin, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, or other regionally significant languages is a plus.
