As a member of the SIT Community Engagement team, you will develop and execute strategies to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among Punggol's youth. You will manage SIT’s youth Makerspace and Gallery to inspire interest in STEM education.
Your role includes collaborating with schools, educators, community organizations, and industry partners to create engaging STEM outreach programs. Additionally, you will lead community initiatives aimed at fostering positive social change and environmental sustainability in Punggol.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement strategies to encourage STEM interest among youth, support environmental sustainability initiatives in Punggol, and promote thought leadership in the community through public talks and seminars.
- Design, implement, and manage SIT’s youth Makerspace and Gallery as part of STEM outreach. Oversee programs and operations to ensure a safe and conducive environment for hands-on STEM learning and creative exploration.
- Collaborate with educators, industry partners, SIT students, and faculty to develop STEM outreach programs for youth in Punggol.
- Establish partnerships with government agencies, community partners, grassroots organizations, and industry stakeholders to plan and execute community outreach programs.
- Work with community leaders to curate projects that utilize the skills and expertise of SIT students to promote positive societal change and environmental sustainability in Punggol.
- Train and mentor SIT students to conduct community outreach programs and assist in organizing campus tours to enhance public awareness of SIT.
- Provide administrative support to the division, including budget management, procurement, and general administrative matters. Contribute to other divisional projects as requested.
Requirements:
- A recognized degree in any discipline with at least 3 years of relevant experience in partnership development, business development and account management or a similar role.
- An experienced partnership builder with a proven track record of working with schools, community organizations, corporate partners, and community leaders. Experience in managing makerspaces, museum galleries, technology showcases, exhibitions, and public campaigns would be an advantage.
- Has a passion to work with youths.
- Open to work occasionally in the evening and weekends to support community events.
- Mature, meticulous and possess high level of integrity.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
We offer a hybrid work arrangement that combines remote and in-person work, subject to work exigencies. The successful candidate will be offered a 3-year contract with a view of renewal.
