Role Purpose(s)

  • Using 3rd party platform, Flexterm Open Platform, for development of the product - virtual container terminal environment. This platform uses Lua as the main scripting language but allows integration with DLLs in C++ and other languages. For communications with the GTOS, it will be using the communication library API.
  • People who can code and learn new languages. We will be coding in Lua, C++, likely C and Java depending on the communication library for integration. Any other scripting language where deemed needed will be learnt on the job.

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate in the development, testing, and deployment of emulation software, updates, enhancements, and configuration changes, ensuring compatibility with the existing system without disruptions.
  • Ensure all support requests and incidents are handled within the agreed service levels, prioritizing critical issues and effectively managing workload.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, including Detailed Requirements Specifications (DRS), troubleshooting guides, and known issues, and share knowledge with team members to enhance team efficiency.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to security policies, compliance standards, and best practices to safeguard data and system integrity.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

  • Analyze, design, code, test, document and maintain IT systems or applications.
  • Provide maintenance support to customers (internal and/or external) by investigating and rectifying reported system shortcomings.
  • Analyze requests for enhancements/changes and write amendment/program specifications.
  • Update system documentation.
  • Perform and manage stages of the SDLC/ Agile Development and participate in the systems review with Project Lead/Manager.
  • Understand the interdependencies of the services (application, system and database) and able to pin-point problem areas accurately to improve overall efficiency.
  • Design and document system design, architecture and propose appropriate technologies and tools required to implement systems; and ensure users sign-off on design specifications.
  • Use development tools to develop applications for better productivity.
  • Develop test cases, conduct SIT, load test and tune the performance of systems to meet SLA.
  • Deploy systems to production and provide post-implementation support.
  • Keep abreast of technological advancement, emerging standards and new software or hardware solutions that may affect decisions about system builds or enhancements.

Education Requirements

  • A good degree in Computer Science, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • A graduate degree and relevant simulation or optimization project experience is an advantage.

Working Experience Requirements

  • No specific requirements for number of years of experience, but having development work experience is preferred.
  • Fresh Grad with strong programming skills is welcomed.

Must-have skills

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Java 8, Javascript, Angular, Lua
  • Proficiency in discrete event simulation software packages, and/or optimization software packages is a plus.
  • Able to communicate clearly both verbally and written in English
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to explain complex concepts to the layman with good communication and presentation skills is an advantage (Optional)
