This includes collaborating closely with design, engineering, and operations teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, develop detailed assembly for electro-mechanical assemblies and test instructions, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and drive process improvements for efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Design & Manufacturing Support – Collaborate with the design and development team to assess new product concepts for manufacturability, assembly, and cost-effectiveness. Review engineering drawings, highlight design issues, and develop resolutions to ensure smooth production transitions.
  • Process Optimization & Troubleshooting – Develop detailed assembly and test instructions, troubleshoot mechanical subsystem failures, and resolve design, process, and tooling challenges. Drive workflow optimization, cycle time reduction, and quality improvement programs for efficient manufacturing.
  • Cross-functional & Supplier Collaboration – Work closely with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to resolve technical issues related to manufacturing and testing. Provide technical support documentation and ensure production goals are met, including safety, quality, reliability, and cost objectives. (10% travel required).
  • Support the concurrent design & development team to develop manufacturable & cost effective new products throughout the KDPD process by assessing new product concepts for design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and manufacturing based cost estimation
  • Provide support to engineering & operations in the preparation of detailed manufacturing assembly/test work instructions (supplemented w/ photographs) for electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Resolve design, process, & tooling problems related to assembly of components.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause failure analysis on mechanical subsystems and components.
  • Highlighting manufacturability issues and developing resolutions jointly with the design team
  • Drive programs to develop supplier and/or in-house manufacturing processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement systems to achieve problem resolution with minimum supervision via workflow optimization, cycle time reduction, & error reduction.
  • Prepare additional technical support documentation such as: As Built Configuration Records, Process Flow Travelers, Total Quality Process Audit Checklists, Troubleshooting Guides, and Test & Adjustment, Labor Hour, & Build Yield Data Collection Forms.
  • Transition a stable product to the production and sustaining organizations in order to meet the Program Goals (i.e. - safety, ease of manufacture, lead-time, cycle time, quality, yield, reliability and cost objectives).
  • Create weekly progress report on the deliverables for your area/s of focus.
  • Review detail and assembly drawings produced by design engineering for completeness, accuracy, tolerance requirements, clarity, etc.
  • Perform assembly and testing of electro-mechanical modules and processes and design the optimal build sequence to ensure that the work is done in a safe, productive manner to the required quality standards; cleanroom environment.
  • Support customers or suppliers in resolving any technical issues relating to the manufacturing / test processes, travelling may be required (10% of the time)
