(A) Job Summary:
The Traffic Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of traffic safety in construction or infrastructure projects. This role ensures compliance with traffic management plans, safety regulations, and project-specific requirements to protect workers, road users, and the public.
(B) Essential Job Functions:
The Traffic Safety Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Traffic Safety Planning and Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) for construction projects.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and local authorities to ensure effective traffic safety measures.
- Monitor traffic flow around project sites to minimize disruptions and ensure public safety.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify adherence to traffic safety protocols.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant traffic safety guidelines and standards.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation
- Identify potential traffic safety risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Conduct risk assessments to address hazards for workers and road users.
- Implement temporary road diversions, signage, and barriers as required.
Incident Management
- Investigate traffic-related incidents or near-misses on or around the project site.
- Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Act as the primary contact for traffic safety-related emergencies.
Training and Awareness
- Conduct traffic safety training and toolbox talks for workers and contractors.
- Raise awareness about traffic safety best practices among project stakeholders.
- Develop educational materials and signage to enhance safety communication.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and submit regular traffic safety reports to project managers and stakeholders.
- Maintain records of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Document compliance with traffic safety regulations for audits and reviews.
(C) Minimum Qualifications/ Job Experience:
- Bachelor ‘s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Safety management, or a related field.
- Certification in “Basic Traffic Supervisor Course” is a must or a equivalent certification issued by MOM/WDA accredited training organisation.
- At least 2 years of practical experience in construction site traffic planning and implementation.
