An exciting new opportunity is available for an energetic, enthusiastic and skilled microbiologist to support the work of the Asian Skin Microbiome Programme 2.0 (ASMP 2.0) based at A*STAR Skin Research Labs. The ASMP 2.0 is acollaborative Singapore-based initiative which connects a number of academic organizations with the aim to develop fundamental knowledge on skin microbes in order to identify and develop better strategies to improve skin health. The role will be based at A*STAR Skin Research Labs on the Biopolis campus.

About the programme
The Skin Microbiome and Skin Health programme is acollaborative industry-facing initiative, which studies various aspects related to the skin microbiome and how it interacts with the host. The programme is across institutions and the role will be based at Biopolis.
About the role
Conduct laboratory experiments on various skin specific microbes on a regular basis. Work with single and multi-species community of microbes.
Perform experiments with microbes and skin cells and 3D models under co-culture conditions
Working with multiple project teams to support needs relating to microbiology.

Requirements
About the candidate
- Bachelors or Masters in microbiology or biochemistry or related (essential).
- Hands on experience working with skin microbes.
- Working with biofilms, and multi-species microbial communities are essential.
- Working with mammalian cell cultures would be an advantage.
- Experience in working with fluorescent stains and confocal microscopy.
- Experience in DNA extraction from single and multi-species of bacteria, and sequencing.
- The candidate needs to be energetic and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn new skills and be adaptable to multiple tasks.
- High level of organisational skills with the ability to plan and schedule multiple projects effectively.
- Ability to effectively handle both internal and external partners, some with competing agendas.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates initiative, creativity, flexibility and a personal ethos of continuous improvement.
- Flexible, professional and resourceful with a high level of organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage workload.
- Deliver agreed activities consistently on time.
- Ability to work independently when required.
