Job Profile Summary
FI Lending (FIL) is responsible for credit risk analysis, limits/rating reviews and lending origination and documentation for Banks and Non-bank financial institution (“NBFI”) counterparties. Fund Finance APAC (FFA) and Insurance Sector Finance (ISF) are also part of FIL in APAC for Transaction and Portfolio Management activities. FFA supports funds clients with the provision of capital call facilities and other financing solutions. More broadly Fund Finance is a global business for ING, with teams in New York, London, Luxembourg, and Singapore. ISF provides lending and capital solutions to the global insurance and reinsurance industries, with teams in London and Singapore.
This is an exciting role to support the FIL, FFA and ISF business growth in APAC, with the successful candidate being a core part of the deal team, with primary responsibilities for credit, new transaction execution, portfolio management and stakeholder engagement.
Job Responsibilities:
Credit Analysis and Approval Process
- Undertake in-depth counterparty and industry credit risk analysis covering bank and NBFI counterparties in APAC.
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial statements and assessment of credit requests, including new requests, refinancings and annual reviews within required timelines.
- Liaise with FI Coverage on clients’ strategy and limit requirements.
- Review & recommend credit terms for loan agreements, ISDA, CSA, GMRA & related documentation.
- Review & recommend Financial Markets & Transaction Services trade requests for credit approval.
- Actively engage in constructive dialogue with Risk Management and other stakeholders.
Credit origination and execution
- Proactively initiate client meetings as appropriate and follow up on business opportunities and client queries with the relevant product areas, relationship managers and ING offices.
- Conduct due diligence, including business, credit, financial, regulatory, and legal diligence.
- Building up sector expertise in the assigned portfolio and this would include building up the requisite sector and industry information in the relevant market.
- Map out new clients / products opportunities and cooperate closely with various ING teams (FI Coverage, Financial Markets, Insurance sector financing, FI advisory, Debt Capital Markets, M&A, Syndication, etc.) and other ING offices where applicable to initiate new FI loans.
- Coordinate and take the lead with internal stakeholders to meet strategy and revenue targets.
- Working closely with FI coverage team on the preparation of loan pricing, commercial proposals, and term sheets.
- Drive the loan documentation process with Legal counsel (if applicable).
- Keep up to date with ING policies and procedures.
Portfolio Management
- Process loan modification/amendment requests.
- Review ongoing reporting deliverables, including financials, compliance certificates, borrowing bases, and valuation reports.
- Track covenant compliance.
- Maintain various department and industry databases/tracker.
What we're looking for:
Experience / Knowledge
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant financial institutions / investment / corporate banking experience (or other relevant field).
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/economics/accounting/business or a related field; Master’s or CFA is a plus.
- Experience in originating and executing lending transactions.
- Excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Proficiency in other languages (Japanese / Korean) will be beneficial.
