Position Overview

The Accounts Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the accounting department and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial records and reporting for the Company’s Client. This role involves managing a team of accountants, preparing financial statements, ensuring ESG compliance, and ensuring that internal controls and accounting procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management

  • Acting as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing their accounting needs and providing ongoing support.
  • Building strong and long-term relationships with clients by understanding their financial goals and offering tailored solutions.

Strategic Financial Oversight

  • Providing financial insights to clients, help clients improve profitability, manage cash flow and optimize tax planning.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting to guide clients’ decision-making and business planning.

Team Leadership and development

  • Managing and mentoring junior accountants and staff, ensuring work is of high quality and deadlines are met.
  • Providing training on accounting systems, regulations and best practices.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensuring all client financial reports are in compliance with relevant laws and regulations (GST laws, GAAP, IFRS).
  • Identifying financial risks or areas of inefficiency for clients and offering solutions to mitigate them.

Technology integration

  • Embracing accounting software and automation tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Helping clients adopt and utilize technology for better financial tracking and reporting
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and implement process improvements when possible.

Business Development

  • Identifying opportunities for new business by recommending additional services (E.g., Advisory, ESG planning) to existing clients or attracting new clients
  • Promoting the company services to potential clients and ensuring the firm stays competitive in the market

Performance Tracking and KPI Monitoring

Using performance metrics to access both client financial health and the company’s internal performance, suggesting improvements where necessary.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certifications, such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), or CMA (Certified Management Accountant), can be highly beneficial.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, reports, and budgets.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations, audits, and financial compliance.
  • Experience in reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end/year-end closings.
  • Proven track record in managing a team or assisting in team management.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Quickbooks).
  • Leadership skills: Ability to guide and supervise junior accountants, provide training, and manage day-to-day accounting functions.
  • Attention to detail: Ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and data analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills: Ability to identify discrepancies and propose solutions.
  • Effective communication: Ability to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders and collaborate across departments.
  • Time management: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well with other departments, such as finance, operations, and senior management.
  • Additional Skills:
  • Project management: Ability to handle special financial projects and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and the ability to implement or improve them.
