The SIT Teaching and Learning Academy (STLA) is looking for an Educational Technologist. STLA supports the academic staff across SIT in their professional development as educators and in the design of learning activities, promoting learner-centric pedagogies and active learning. The Educational Technologist will work mainly with Academic staff, Educational Developers, the IT department and external vendors to promote the effective use of technologies to enhance teaching and learning practices.Key Responsibilities
  • Technology Implementation: Identify, assess, and implement educational technologies that enhance teaching and learning activities across disciplines.
  • Collaboration with academic staff: Work closely with academic staff to experiment with and pilot new tools and technologies for online applied learning, as well as for improving face-to-face and hybrid learning environments.
  • Systems Integration: Partner with the IT department to ensure smooth integration of selected educational technologies with SIT's existing systems and platforms.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the development and management of educational software, AR/VR resources, and other technology-driven initiatives by working with both in-house and external teams. Ensure long-term sustainability and maintenance of these resources.
  • Project Management: Manage the processes for educational technology projects, ensuring milestones are met on time and within scope, and oversee procurement processes and project budgets.
  • Evaluation and Feedback: Continuously review the effectiveness of technology solutions and tools, documenting outcomes and disseminating findings to encourage wider adoption within the university.
  • Academic Staff Training: Design and deliver training programs, user guides, and workshops to equip academic staff with the skills to effectively use educational technologies in their teaching practice.
  • Promote Adoption: Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging faculty adoption of new and effective educational technologies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Passion for Learning: Enthusiastic about exploring new tools, techniques, and approaches to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical challenges in simple terms.
  • Independent/Collaborative: Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., ICT, Software Engineering, Game Design) is preferred. Additional qualifications in instructional design or educational technology would be an advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience working with educational technologies in an academic or similar setting.
  • Familiarity with EdTech Tools: Strong knowledge of the EdTech landscape, including experience with content development tools, learning management systems (LMS), and technologies like AR/VR. Familiarity with platforms like Articulate Storyline, H5P, SCORM, and xAPI is a plus.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management and administrative skills with a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
  • Technical Training Experience: Experience in developing and facilitating technical training sessions for educators or similar stakeholders.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with software development processes and a basic understanding of scripting or markup languages is a plus.
