We welcome you to join our team as: SENIOR EXECUTIVE / ASSISTANT MANAGER, CRIMINAL COURTS What the role is As Senior Executive / Assistant Manager of the Criminal Courts Cluster in the State Courts, you will be required to support the trial judge in hearings and assist in the smooth operation of the criminal trial courts.What you will be working on:Your job will include court management and case management duties. You will ensure that court hearings proceed smoothly, the administrative aspects of each case are dealt with properly, and operational procedures of the court as well as timelines are adhered to by all parties. In doing so, you will need to interact with members of the public, accused persons, lawyers, prosecuting officers, judges and other officers of the Courts. Your job will also include planning duties such as assisting judges with planning and coordination of court diaries, secretarial assistance for their projects, etc. In addition, you may be assigned various administrative duties and projects. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your performance and potential through challenging assignments and job rotations in a dynamic and fast-paced operating environment. You will also be rostered for Night Court duties and Saturday duties, for which you will be compensated with an allowance and time-off-in-lieu respectively.What we are looking for:
  • 2 to 5 years of working experience in operations and/or administration • Experience in a legal / law-related environment or a customer-fronting job will be an advantage • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications (in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) • Ability to speak fluently in additional languages such as Malay, Tamil or Mandarin will be an advantage (to liaise with court users) • Meticulous and organized. • Effective written and oral communication skills. • Able to multi-task and work within tight deadlines. • Able to work well in a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision. • Possess excellent interpersonal skills. • Able to coordinate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders. • Able to exercise discretion and demonstrate good judgment. • Innovative and proactive to propose new ideas. • Positive working and learning attitude. The successful candidate will be appointed on one-year probationary contract in the first instance. Only short-listed candidates will be notified.
