SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cost Engineer to join our shipbuilding team.

The Cost Engineer will be responsible for managing and controlling the costs associated with

shipbuilding projects from the planning phase through to completion.

This role requires a strong understanding of cost estimation, project budgeting, cost analysis, and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments to ensure financial objectives are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and manage cost estimates and budgets for shipbuilding projects, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.

• Monitor and control project costs, ensuring they remain within the established budget and scope.

• Work closely with project managers, procurement, and engineering teams to gather accurate data for cost planning and tracking.

• Perform detailed cost analysis, identifying cost drivers and areas for cost reduction or

optimization.

• Prepare regular cost reports and updates for senior management, providing insights into

project financial health and forecasting potential overruns.

• Review and analyze contract terms to ensure cost control mechanisms are in place and adhered to.

Track and report on change orders and variations in project scope, ensuring their impact on costs is accurately reflected.

• Assist in the preparation of tender submissions by providing detailed cost breakdowns and estimating potential risks.

• Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, company policies, and external regulations.

• Identify and implement best practices for cost management and risk mitigation within the shipbuilding industry.

• Conduct post-project cost analysis to evaluate performance and provide recommendations for future improvements.

• Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate suppliers and subcontractors in terms of cost-effectiveness.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

Proven experience as a Cost Engineer, Cost Estimator, or in a similar role within the shipbuilding, maritime, or construction industry.

• Strong knowledge of cost management principles, project budgeting, and cost estimation techniques.

• Familiarity with shipbuilding processes, materials, and labor requirements.

• Proficiency in cost management software, MS Excel, and project management tools.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify cost-related issues and develop solutions.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial data in a clear and concise manner.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all cost-related tasks.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
