Job Description

Prof Chng Wee Joo's laboratory at Cancer Science Institute of Singapore is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to support translational research in haematologic malignancies, including multiple myeloma (MM), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTL). The candidate will assist in conducting high-throughput genomics and proteomics research, contributing to the discovery of novel prognostic markers, therapeutic targets, and the molecular mechanisms driving disease progression and drug resistance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute molecular and cellular biology experiments, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry to support research projects.
  • Assist in next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation and contribute to bioinformatics analysis to interpret genomic data.
  • Validate genomic and proteomic findings using human tumor samples and model systems in pre-clinical research settings.
  • Maintain a tissue bank and clinical database to facilitate research activities and data management.
  • Conduct cell culture and functional assays, such as cell viability, apoptosis, and drug response assays, to evaluate experimental outcomes.
  • Analyze gene expression and pathways to identify novel diagnostic subtypes and prognostic factors.
  • Support research publications and grant applications through literature reviews and data analysis.
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols and maintain accurate experimental records for documentation and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology, genomics, and proteomics techniques is preferred.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for genomic and transcriptomic analysis is a plus.
  • Experience in working with human clinical samples and cell culture techniques is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced research environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior research experience in haematological malignancies, cancer biology, or precision medicine.
  • Knowledge of computational biology and statistical methods for genomics data analysis.
  • Experience in handling sequencing platforms (e.g., Illumina, Nanopore) and data interpretation.
